Mark Ahalt

I’ve devoted most of my working life to education and community development efforts.  Over 40 years ago I completed my Master’s in community development and then spent 30 years teaching at colleges and high schools in Southern Oregon including Oregon Tech and Southern Oregon University.  Essentially, my real estate interests grew from my expertise in community development and planning.  My experiences in small business and entrepreneurship have given me the tools to specialize in commercial and residential development properties.  

Besides my interest in community development, I will go the extra mile to help newcomers to the Basin and young people find their first home in Klamath.  Refining your search and helping you decide where to put down your roots in a new community is part of a realtor’s job.  I enjoy that process.

I have served two terms on the City Planning Commission and two terms on the Klamath County Planning Commission.  Klamath is a town and a region with incredible potential and all the local assets are in place for a transition to the rural knowledge economy that will shift the balance from urban areas to more livable rural spaces like Klamath Falls.

My first real estate venture and business in Klamath Falls was the neighborhood coffee shop, Renaldo’s, a real hot spot in the Campus Square complex in the early nineties.  Now my wife and I are working on a small neighborhood plan encompassing over 115 acres above Lakeshore Drive, called BuckRidge Community.  BuckRidge will be a prototype for how we can create social and environmental long term relationships with our homes, our neighbors and the environment we live in.  We have spent over fifteen years working on trails, buffer zones for wildlife, dedicated park spaces and homesites that will harmoniously blend with the topography and with each other.  We believe that sustainability is more about how we design our use of resources and our spatial relationships with each other.  We completed our first model home in 2019.
